| a balanced life...would be nice. I'm so thankful for the nearness of thanksgiving. so many things to be truly thankful for. My family is here and we're doing thanksgiving at their time share condo in Solana Beach. I'm thankful that their happens to be a hot tub, heated pool, and fire pit all right there for me to take advantage of! and I'm definately going to. Tomorrow is the big day for the annual Kindergarten Turkey Hunt...it's sure to be a hoot n' holler! You know you plan for hours and prepare for a stinking 10 minute play. And you know what? the kids will probably mess up, but everybody will love it even more b/c it's so funny when little kids mess up during performances. Don't worry I won't think it's funny, I'll give them my teacher look and scold them later. Just kidding it's not true, but honestly this dang play stresses me out. Melody you can certainly testify to that...remember the Turkey Hunt breakdown of '06?
Last night I had the rare opportunity to take a houseboat tour, it was awesome and amazing. My friends the Henry's moved into their boat about 2 months ago and had a boat warming party! It was fun and totally interesting, they really had to simplify their lives to move into the boat, but the fact that they can take their boat into the ocean whenever they want is awesome! They've got a beautiful view from their boat, I really admire them moving into their new floatable home.
In other news I just bought Gilmore Girls Season 1 for a mere $15 at Target, what a wonderful deal! Thank you Target! I'm excited to get started, I've never watched Gilmore Girls. I'm hoping it will be a delight to watch. I've only heard good things about Gilmore Girls, I hope it's not disappointing.
| eerie...Things are eerie around here. There is smoke that covers our beautiful city, a terrible smoky smell outside, and ash on our front/back yards, cars, and driveway. Our school and church have been closed for the week and it all feels eerie. It's almost surreal. Fire is so powerful, it does what it wants and I know several families that have had to evacuate their houses. All I can do is pray, pray that their houses don't get burned and that their families stay safe. On t.v. it's the only thing that's on the major stations...fire coverage. It's addicting. I go to bed watching it, fall asleep watching it, and wake up early to catch what is going on. I'm one of the lucky ones that can actually fall asleep because the fire isn't too near us. However, last night Joli and I drove to the end of Palm Ave. (about 5 miles from my house) and we were on a hill and we could see 2 fires bright red in the dark. It truly let us know the seriousness of the situation. There are so many families that have lost their houses, it's so sad. It makes me so proud of all of our firemen, city officials, and how they are working ridiculous hours to help save homes in San Diego. It's amazing to see our city pull together to help those in need, it's truly touching.
Right now on the news they're addressing the fact that people are looting in the city of Ramona. That makes me absolutely sick. What are these people thinking?
| Times are a changin'It's true...things are changing big time around here. I'm super sad Kristen is leaving, I really love that girl. You know we were really lucky...we were best friends/roommates in college and worked out for us to experience "real" life together. God has been good to us and that choir song keeps going through my head: "even in the valley, God is good." It's so true and it's always a thrill to see how God works out His mysterious plan for our lives. In other news, I finally registered my car here in california, I figured it was time. So I'm feeling pretty good about getting that out of the way. I also decided it's time to get a california license...so I'm finally an actual Californian! Kindergarten is going well this year. I have a great group of kids and they sure do some funny things. For instance I take roll every morning and I've instructed them to say present after I call their names and my kids are saying "president" instead. I need to break them of this horrible habit, but for the sake of making myself giggle every morning I don't correct them. It's cute and a great way to start the day. o.k. I'm hoping to be a bit more of a faithful blogger in the future...we'll see. | | |
| School days are back...exciting and a little bit sad. Only sad because I can now say good-bye free time. We had orientation today and it went well, lots of new faces, nervous parents, and a nervous teacher! This summer has been an absolute blast. Perfectly relaxing and I got to catch up with lots of friends, always a good time! I think I'm going to photo blog my summer when I have some free time. ok, I realize this was a small blog, but I'm spent... | | |
| Where's Nathaniel?Sara and I (way back in may) went to the gala Daniel and Christy were in and on our way out Nathaniel was "hiding" from us...see if you can find him in the following pictures, just to warn you, he's a tricky hider!
Did you find him? He really was so cute about hiding and then scaring us...the greatest part is that Sara, Christy, and I would pretend to be scared every time he jumped out from behind the light post. Nathaniel was tickled pink with himself for being such a pro at hiding and scaring us!
What a handsome little fellow!
